LEAGUE PREFERENCING FOR 2025-2026

 GOALS

• Support the ability of existing members to continue to curl in leagues they have traditionally curled in
• Provide notice when a league is oversubscribed to allow curlers to join other leagues
• Support the addition of new members to the Dixie Curling Centre.

LEAGUE RANKING FOR PRIME TIME LEAGUES (after 4 pm)

• This applies to Prime time leagues at for members 26 years and older. If you select more than three (3) Prime Time Leagues, you will be asked to rank all of your league selections with #1 being the highest ranking. Your top three (3) leagues will be accepted at time of registration but are dependent on the Preferencing Rules outlined below. Entry into any additional Prime Time Leagues (4+) will be confirmed by September 10, 2025.

 TIMING

Three registration time periods:

• Period 1: Provides preferencing to returning League Teams/League Members August 12 to 18, 2025
• Period 2: Leagues are open to all Dixie members (in order received) August 19 to 25, 2025
• Period 3: Open registration for all including New Members (in order received) August 26, 2025.

 COMPLETED REGISTRATIONS AND PAYMENT

A registration will be considered complete when the Dixie Curling Club receives a completed website registration and appropriate payment.

All CYOR team submissions must include the names of a minimum of four curlers CYOR teams will not be confirmed in their league until all team members have completed the registration and payment process.

GENERAL

• A Returning Member is defined as any active member in the prior curling season. Grace period will be extended to curlers who have been away for one season.
• Registration is through the Dixie website.
• In the event of oversubscription for a league within the preferencing periods, a lottery will be used to determine which teams fill the remaining positions in that league.
• Reminder emails will be sent such as Registration Coming/Now Open, etc.
• After registration begins August 12, 2024, Dixie members will be updated regularly with a list of completed registrations received to allow the query of the status of teams/members. For Team Entries, those members with outstanding payments will be noted. It is the Member’s responsibility to review the status lists issued to ensure payment has been made and accepted for all of their team members to secure the spot in the more popular leagues.
• The office will notify teams/individuals that were not successful in gaining entry to a particular league. Contact will be made by either telephone or email to individuals and to all members of a team entry.
• Conveners will be encouraged to make use of strategies that will enable the acceptance of as many new curlers to Dixie as is possible without hindering the ability of returning members to curl in these leagues.

STUDENTS/JUNIORS

• All U18 members who wish to participate in other than the 18U Curling on Sundays must pay the 25U registration and follow the associated guidelines.
• U18 members should be used as spares only when Adult, Intermediate and 25U members are not available to spare.
• U18 Teams/Members are to be considered the same as any other team/member in league placement. Minimum age for U18 to register in leagues is 16.
• U18 teams (under 16) may fill vacant spots in leagues after registration at the discretion of the DCC General Manager.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION

• The General Manager will handle any disputes in registration.
• If required, the Dixie Curling Centre Board will review any issues.

INDIVIDUAL ENTRY LEAGUES

Only those registrations accompanied with proper payment will be considered received.

For All Individual Entry Leagues registration will be as follows:

Period 1: August 12 to 18, 2025 - Returning League Members

• Entries for all returning league members are accepted up until the end of the last day of the preferencing period.
• Members selecting more than three (3+) Prime Time Leagues must rank their selection with #1 being their first selection.
• Entry into additional Prime Time Leagues will be confirmed by September 11, 2025.
• A lottery will be used to determine entry into the league if it is oversubscribed.
• Curlers that lose entry into a league by lottery will be treated as if they played in the league for the following season only (this privilege will be limited to one year). These lottery individuals that return in the subsequent season will be given protection from the lottery for the season only.
• Conveners will be encouraged to make use of strategies that will enable the acceptance of as many new curlers to the Dixie Curling Centre as is possible without hindering the ability of returning members to curl in these leagues.

Period 2: August 19 to 25, 2025 - Returning Dixie Members

• Registration opens for all Dixie Members assuming the league is not full.
• Registrations will be accepted in the order received as there is NO PREFERENCING.
• Members selecting more than three (3+) Prime Time Leagues must rank their selection with #1 being their first selection.
• Entry into additional Prime Time Leagues will be confirmed by September 11, 2025.

Period 3: August 26 2025 - Open to All Including New Members

• Registration open to all, including new members, assuming the league is not full.
• Registrations will be accepted in the order received as there is NO PREFERENCING.
• Members selecting more than three (3+) Prime Time Leagues must rank their selection with #1 being their first selection.
• Entry into additional Prime Time Leagues will be confirmed by September 11, 2025.

TEAM ENTRY LEAGUES

Only those registrations accompanied with proper payment will be considered received.

Note: Only four (4) team members will be considered for preferencing rules. The four players that curled the most frequently in the previous season will be considered the official team for preferencing purposes.

Note: Minimum four (4) registered players are required for all CYOR team entry leagues.

For All Team Entry Leagues registration will be as follows:

Period 1: August 12 to 18, 2025 Returning League Members

1)      4 Returning Team Members

2)      3 Returning Team Members + 1 Returning League Member

3)      3 Returning Team Members + 1 Returning Dixie Member

4)      4 Returning League Members

5)      3 Returning League Members + 1 Returning Dixie Member

6)      2 Returning Team Members + 2 Returning Dixie Members

7)      2 Returning League Members + 2 Returning Dixie Members

8)      The following combinations will be considered equal:

o   Returning Team Members + 1 New Dixie Member OR

• Returning League Members + 1 New Dixie Member OR
• Returning Dixie Members

• Entries for all returning league members are accepted until the last day of the preferencing period. At that time teams will be accepted into the league per the order above from the highest level (#1) to the lowest level (#8).
• Members selecting more than three (3+) Prime Time Leagues must rank their selection with #1 being their first selection.
• Entry into additional Prime Time Leagues will be confirmed by September 11, 2025.
• A lottery will be used to determine entry into the league if it is oversubscribed.
• Only those teams from the preferencing level that would cause the league to overflow will be included in the lottery. Teams from higher levels will already have entry into the league, while teams from lower levels will not curl in that league in that season.
• Curlers that lose entry into a league by lottery will be treated as if they played in the league for the following season only (this privilege will be limited to one year).
• Lottery teams that return in the subsequent season with the same three (3) Team Members + 1 Returning League Member will be guaranteed entry into an oversubscribed league as they will receive level 1 status and will be given protection from the lottery for that season only.
• Teams BELOW the level where the lottery occurred will return as Dixie Member only for the following season.

Period 2: August 19 to 25, 2025 - Returning Dixie Members

• Registration opens for all Dixie Members assuming the league is not full.
• Registrations will be accepted in the order received as there is NO PREFERENCING.
• Members selecting more than three (3+) Prime Time Leagues must rank their selection with #1 being their first selection.
• Entry into additional Prime Time Leagues will be confirmed by September 11, 2025.

Period 3: August 26, 2025

• Registration open to all, including new members, assuming the league is not full.
• Registrations will be accepted in the order received as there is NO PREFERENCING. Members selecting more than three (3+) Prime Time Leagues must rank their selection with #1 being their first selection.
• Entry into additional Prime Time Leagues will be confirmed by September 11, 2025.
